What The Lonely Planet Travel Guides Should Tell You

One absolutely crucial piece of information I want to know when traveling is: what can I get over the counter at local pharmacies that would require a prescription at home?

Valium? Hydrocodone? Acetyldihydrocodeine? Oxycodone?

Souvenirs are a big part of the tourist experience.

Laurie has been looking for truffle oil.  I’ve pointed out that Whole Foods carries truffle oils from all over the world.  Just buy it back in Seattle!

She didn’t like this comment and seemed a bit testy when I stated what seemed the obvious.

The only thing worth bringing back with you are items you CAN’T get at home.  And in the global world we live in, the only reason you won’t be able to get any items at home has to do with laws.
